How To Install TWRP and Root Your Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8 SM-G950U

Samsung launched its latest flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S8 earlier this year. The device was hugely anticipated primarily because of its infinity display. Also, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle, the Galaxy S8 was Samsung’s chance to make all the wrongs right.

Touchwiz was Samsung’s exclusive Android OS and it was heavily skinned and filled with a lot of new features. However most Samsung users were not that much fond of it mainly due to the bloatwares and unnecessary features it came with.

In case you have ever thought of removing these bloatware or thought that how great would it be to have a cleaner and a smoother version of Stock Android which is more optimized than Touchwiz, then all you have to do is to follow the detailed instructions below.

PRE-REQUISITES
Make sure that the USB drivers for your Android device are installed on the PC.

Maintain 50-60% battery to prevent sudden shutdown between the process.

How to Install TWRP Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8

First Of all read the Pre-Requirement Section Carefully.
Now download the Latest Odin File from the download section above
After downloading, Unzip the latest Odin xxx .zip file
Now Run Odin3 vxxx.exe file from the extracted files on your PC. (Download the latest odin, unzip and run)
Make sure you’ve downloaded The Odin flashable TWRP recovery .tar file compatible for your device. (Important)
(If applicable) Enable OEM unlock: (Enable OEM unlock” feature Only for Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ devices)
Go to Settings » About phone » and tap “Build number” seven times to enable “Developer options”.
Go back to main Settings page, scroll to bottom and select“Developer options” from there.
Under Developer options, look for “Enable OEM unlock”checkbox/toggle and make sure you Check it or turn it ON.
Now Boot your Samsung Android device into Download mode.To Do So Follow the steps below
Switch off your device.
Press and hold “Home + Power + Volume down” buttons for a few seconds until you see a warning screen.
Press Volume Up on the warning screen to accept it and boot into Download mode.
Once your device is in download mode, connect it to the PC with a USB cable. The Odin will automatically detect the device and show an “Added!!” message.If not then your device is not connected properly

Now click on the AP tab on Odin window and select the TWRP recovery .tar file that you downloaded for your device.

Click the Start button on Odin to start Flashing and wait for it to finish the process.
Once it finished successfully, a pass message on the Odin screen will pop up
Your device will automatically reboot when Odin is done flashing. Now You can disconnect your device.
Done!!! TWRP is now installed on your device

How To Root
Download the SuperSU zip file from above and transfer the file to your device.
Boot your device into TWRP recovery. (press and hold the Volume Down button + Home button + Power button at the same time.)

Select “Wipe” from the TWRP main menu and do a “Swipe to Factory Reset” on the bottom of the screen.

Once done, go back to TWRP main menu, tap on “Install” and select SuperSU (zip file) that you transferred to your device in Step 1.

After selecting the .zip file, do “Swipe to Confirm Flash” on the bottom of the screen to begin the SuperSU installation process.
Once your zip file is successfully installed, go to “Wipe cache/Dalvik” option, select it and then do “Swipe to wipe” on the bottom of the screen.
Once done, reboot your device from the TWRP main menu
